Burning MaskReviewsJust to set thingz straight this is neil sparkes from trans-global underground then moved on with fello dubber & transglobal menber count dubulah to form temple of sound with their albums first edition, black orchid, shout at the devil with jah wobble, people's colony no.1, and live at womad cd and cd-rom gold of the sun 2 disc. This album is not verry far off temple of sound, and some trans but newer scence count dubulah is featured on 3 of the songz and & enginerz & mixes 2 of them. He playez bass,hot steppa, large maraca, add prog, piano, drumz, programming. 3 of the songz also feature zion train the dub group. I did care more for the begining of the album up through 4 were slammin dub style with neil in this cuban-esq percussion and electric drumz. Them the album dosent get worze but just not as hard core dub percussion style itz a bit toned down where his poetry is more focussed he does so only on 3 songz and they are cut up, but the last song iz slammin. His singing poetry style is really cool though his british axcent is verry strong. Their are lotz of cuban style with samplez, percussion and piano, their is a bit of faster techno electro style but itz still in a dub fassion with plenty of congaz. all in all though i havent heard black orchid but i thought that this album was better than first edition, itz not comparable to peoples colony due to the rizwan wawwali group and the album iz extremelly sufi eastern with harmonium, tablas singing itz fantastic, and shout at the devil is 1 of the best recordz ever so this is up their if you a fan of temple or trans. i bought my coppy 5 dayz ago from the amazon.co.uk and itz cheap only 12 including shipping. so if your looking for slammin dub/ excellent percussion/ the kronic look no further from uk dub at itz best Average Rating: |
